remembering dad.

A few years ago, my dad passed from a very aggressive form of cancer. Less than a month from diagnosis to his passing. I recently came upon this photo of him standing on this log. I've always liked this one. His hobby was wood working, and I always like the image of him standing on this chunk of wood. After several texts with my bonus mom, I learned that they were in Washington state, along the shore. They came across this huge log, and he was trying to figure out how to get the log home!! He never did get it home (all the way to West Virginia). But I like to think what he might have done with it.

What Was I Thinking?!

So here goes. This is a work-in-progress (WIP). I don't do a lot of still life. If you haven't noticed, I'm an animal person. But I wanted to challenge myself with some textures I have not painted before. Needless to say, I accomplished that task. I wanted to see how detailed I could get on the ceramic dish on the left side. It is pretty detailed but boy is it tedious!!  The blue glass is turning out fairly well, although I'm not thrilled with the leaf behind at the moment. So, some work to do there. As I continue with this, I will post more progress updates.

Thanks for checking in with me.
